Watanmal Group’s two repackaging units for Tomato Paste and Milk Powder in Nigeria gets ISO 22000 certification.
ISO 22000 is a standard developed by the International Organisation for Standardisation dealing with food safety. ISO (International Organization for Standardization) is the world's largest developer and publisher of International Standards. ISO is a network of the national standards institutes of 157 countries, one member per country, with a Central Secretariat in Geneva, Switzerland, that coordinates the system.
ISO 22000 standardises food safety management by specifying requirements for an organisation in the food chain to demonstrate its ability to control food safety hazards to ensure the food is safe at the time of human consumption. Adequate control is required at all stages in the food chain to prevent any food safety hazard.
ISO 22000 has been aligned with ISO 9001 in order to enhance the compatibility of the two standards and can be integrated with existing management system requirements or can be implemented independently of other management system standards.
