To help children in Nigeria build good vocabulary and sound lingual skills in English, Watanmal Group organised Jago Busy Spelling Bees competition thereby “Nurturing Tomorrow’s Champions”. After a successful launch in Abuja, the 2008 edition of Jago Busy Spelling Bees went to the city of Onitsha and Kano in the month of November, 2008. More than 90 schools registered in each city of Kano and Onitsha, however on the day of the competition an overwhelming response was received from non registered schools too. Enthusiastic kids with their parents competed for Jago goodies like caps, t-shirts, radios, footballs, alarm clocks, etc. Eminent educationists were called to be the Chief guests and judges. For Onitsha, the Chief Guest was Commissioner of Police. All the participating Schools got Jago Marker Boards to be used in the class-rooms of the participating kids. The top 3 kids won scholarship worth ₦ 30,000; ₦ 20,000 and ₦10,000 respectively.
